Government spends Rs 20 cr to prepare for KJP Synod Sepngi

Shillong, March 5: The state government has spent a total amount of Rs 20 crore for the construction of the 5 km road and the water supply scheme as part of the preparation of the Laitryngew Presbyterian Church, Sohra to host the KJP Synod Sepngi from March 7 to 10.
‘The preparation to host the annual church meeting of the KJP Synod Sepngi started in 2019, and we have earmarked Rs 10 crore for the construction of the 5 km road in 2022; and Rs 10 crore for the Laitryngew Mawkma Combined Water Supply Scheme’, Sohra MLA, Gaviin Mylliem told reporters on Tuesday after the inspection for the preparation of the KJP Synod Sepngi. The representatives of the church and members of the executive committee of the village were also present during the inspection.
Earlier, the church appealed to the public to abide by the traffic arrangements made by the traffic police and the volunteers to avoid disruption.
According to a statement from the Presbyterian Church Laitryngew, no vehicles will be allowed to park along the stretch of the road from Umtyngngar to Laitryngew.
Drivers are requested to not drive at high speed and to avoid overtaking or overloading, they are also asked to paste their mobile numbers on the vehicle so that the volunteers can contact them when the need arises.
Arrangements for parking of vehicles have been made since there is enough space on the ground where the services will be held.
