Agartala: CPI(M) politburo member and Tripura Chief Minister Sarkar has warned his fellow comrades over growing incidences of derailment of communist ideology among the leaders and workers of the party.
Addressing the celebration of Lenin’s birthday and November Socialist Revolution of Russia here Friday, Sarkar expressed serious concern over moral erosion of a section of CPI-M leaders and cadres.
He issued a note of caution to the party leaderships in enrolment of new members and advised them to ensure that the newcomers should have a complete devotion to follow the Marxist ideology.
‘We communists are not for ourselves; we are for the service of others and all of us should exclude personal luxury and richness for the welfare of the society,’ Sarkar reminded the leaders.
The CPI-M in Tripura has been passing through a critical phase because of corruption at different levels of governance besides, moral turpitude of the leaders and inclination to personal well-being.
‘A section of party leaders are full of arrogance and we should be strictest to get rid of envious supporters’, said Sarkar and urged cadres to be modest and clean to retain the image of party.
The card of the party is not a license.
Misuse of party membership is unexpected. It is seen that some leaders shifted to frontal organisations have not abided by the party rules.
One should follow the party rules and instructions even in jail, he realised.
‘Without being honest, CPI(M) leaders and workers cannot be close to the people’, Sarkar maintained.
The party was embarrassed recently when a local committee member of CPI-M in southern outskirt of Agartala was found sleeping on the bed of full cash and criticised his fellow comrades nakedly terming them as ‘hypocrite’ on camera.
He has stressed on the need of Russian revolution and Marxism and Leninism to the world and India and commented that the present day world and India require struggle of the Communists to save the working class from invasion of Capitalism and imperialism. (UNI)
