SHILLONG: The Lympung ki Seng Kynthei has condemned the brutal killing of 5 police personnel by GNLA militants at South Garo Hills recently at the same time, extended their condolences to the bereaved family of the departed souls.

In their statement, the Lympung has stated that the brutal killing of innocent people is a violation of human rights while at the same time, impressed upon the need to curb such violent activities by the insurgent groups.

Meanwhile, the Lympung has also condemned the statement made by few people in some sections of the press against Home Minister Roshan Warjri who termed her as a ‘Homemaker Home Minister’. “We don’t appreciate such derogatory statement against anyone be it the Home Minister or anybody for that matter. Why does gender disparity has to come into the picture just because the current state of affairs is slightly out of is way and just because the Home Minister happens to be a woman?’ the statement added.

Stating that a quality of a leader is described based on their capabilities and not on their gender, the Lympung said “Irrespective of who sits in the chair, be it a man or a woman, if unusual things have to happen, they will happen.”
