Imphal: Class nine and ten students of a Sainik School in Imphal East district of Manipur boycotted their classes on Monday demanding transfer of the principal, sources in the school and officials said today.

The students boycotted their classes and launched a strike to press transfer of principal Col Ravi Kumar who allegedly beat up some students and abused them following a quarrel between the students and his son, the students said.

His son had threatened some students during the quarrel to get them expelled from the school, the sources said. Following the ‘misunderstanding’ between the principal and students, the latter attempted to leave the school yesterday after packing their belongings but they were prevented at the gate where police personnel were posted, the sources said.
