SHILLONG: St Edmund’s College lifted the Inter College Cricket Tournament for the third consecutive time, defeating St Anthony’s College by a margin of 25 runs in the final on Monday.

This tournament was organized by Sports Department, NEHU.

In a keenly-contested match, played at the Cricket Ground, Polo, St Edmund’s won the toss and elected to bat first on a flat surface.

However, they lost quick wickets as St Anthony’s bowlers and fielders did not let the batsmen have an easy time of it.

A late onslaught by Ujjal with 30 runs off 46 balls and Rajdeep with 29 runs off 20 balls salvaged a score of 120/6 in 25 overs.

Gilbert Syiemlieh took two for 17 in his four overs.

St Anthony’s lost two quick wickets in the run chase, but a steady third wicket partnership brought them in sight of victory.

However, the spinners of St Edmund’s slowed the run-making and Anthony’s collapsed to 95 all out in 24 overs.

Peter Anglican scored 21 runs off 26 balls while Abhay Kr Rai took 2-14 in four overs, while Vikram Chettri bagged 2-16 in five overs.

The Man-of-the-Series was awarded to Vishal Warjri of Sohra College and the Man-of-the-Match in the final was awarded to Rajdeep Dutta of St Edmund’s.
