SHILLONG: The members of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), who are scheduled to arrive here on Thursday, have postponed their visit in view of Muharram. Confirming this here on Wednesday, official sources said the NGT members were scheduled to take up various issues including the ongoing sand mining along the river beds during the deliberations with the senior government officials. “The NGT team is likely to visit sometime in December,” official sources added. The visit of the NGT members assumes significance in view of the recent ban on sand mining from river beds across India without prior environmental approval.
