SHILLONG/AMPATI, March 20: A total of 1,126 posters, hoardings and banners have been removed across Meghalaya following the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
According to a statement here, while 109 posters have been removed from government premises, 248 have been removed from public spaces.
Similarly, 228 and 440 banners have been removed from government premises and public spaces respectively.
On the other hand, 43 hoardings have been removed from government premises while a total of 58 hoardings have been removed from public spaces.
Meanwhile, removal of defacement has also been carried out in government, public and private properties immediately after the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct.
It has been also informed that flying squads have been activated and subsequently placed in all assembly segments, prohibitory orders have been issued by all the districts, photos of political functionaries are being removed from government websites and government departments have also been sensitised on the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct.

The District Election Officer of South West Garo Hills has announced the establishment of a 24X7 call centre in the control room of the Office of the South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In this regard, individuals seeking information or wishing to register complaints regarding election-related matters have been asked to contact 1950 (toll-free number) or 03651-261274 (control room number).
“This initiative aims to ensure seamless communication and prompt assistance to the general public throughout the electoral process,” a statement in this regard said.
