SHILLONG, March 21: Marking a significant stride towards sustainability and women’s health, Shubham Charitable Association and Operation Clean-Up (OCU) on Thursday distributed free reusable pads among rural women in the general ward of Ganesh Das Hospital.
This collaborative initiative, under the Zero Waste Period Project, aims to provide access to sustainable menstrual products while promoting environmental consciousness.
The event witnessed the presence of esteemed women doctors from Ganesh Das Hospital, along with the hospital’s warden, who took the opportunity to raise awareness among new mothers in the local language. They highlighted the pivotal role of the Zero Waste Period Project in safeguarding the environment and improving the livelihoods of women.
Shubham Charitable Association president Pushpa Bajaj and Zero Waste Period Convener Silky Bajaj among others were present to oversee the distribution and engage with the community.
The collaborative efforts of Shubham Charitable Association and Operation Clean-Up reflect a commitment to fostering sustainable practices and empowering women in rural communities.
