IIPH Shillong wins awards at 68th Natl IPHA Conference

SHILLONG, March 21: Seven young researchers from the Indian Institute of Public Health Shillong (IIPHS) presented papers and actively participated in the 68th Annual National Conference of the Indian Public Health Association with its theme ‘Harnessing Digital Health for Public Health Advancements: Transforming Healthcare Delivery and Research’.
The conference was held in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, from March 14 to 17.
The conference featured comprehensive plenary sessions covering a diverse array of topics, including tuberculosis, anaemia, successful field outbreak investigations, maternal health, HPV vaccine, one health initiatives, and non-communicable diseases such as wellness and mental health. The IIPHS team shared their research through oral and poster presentations.
Researcher Carinthia Balabet Nengnong received the Best Oral Presentation award for her paper titled ‘Community and Health Worker Perspectives on Malaria in Meghalaya, India: Covering the Last Mile of Elimination by 2030’, and another Dr Deepak Rajan, a One Health DBT-IA Research Fellow at IIPHS was presented with the Best Poster award for his paper titled ‘Trends of Leptospirosis in Kerala: A Secondary Data Analysis.’
The conference served as a platform for young researchers to engage with esteemed professionals from across India and abroad, enabling learning and valuable networking opportunities.
