NEIGRIHMS ophthalmology deptt hosts academic programme

Shillong, March 22: The Department of Ophthalmology at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on the theme “Updates in Ophthalmology” on Thursday. The programme was led by Prof (Dr) TanieNatung, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at NEIGRIHMS. Prof (Dr) Nalin Mehta, Director of NEIGRIHMS, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The CME saw active participation from all ophthalmologists in the Shillong area. They presented insightful talks and interesting clinical cases, fostering a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing. Discussions cantered on the latest advancements in ophthalmic treatments and technologies, ensuring participating doctors remained updated on the best practices in the field. Post-graduate students in ophthalmology from NEIGRIHMS also actively contributed to the event. They presented their research papers and shared unique and rare clinical cases, showcasing the calibre of future ophthalmologists emerging from the institute.
Prof. Natung delivered the welcome address, emphasising the importance of active participation in such academic events to stay updated on the ever-evolving field of ophthalmology.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr.Lanalyn Thangkhiew, Additional Professor of Ophthalmology at NEIGRIHMS. Prof. Mehta commended the Department of Ophthalmology for organising this valuable CME programme.
Prof. Natung stressed on the importance of continuous learning and encouraged ophthalmologists in the Shillong area to actively participate in such academic events to remain updated with the latest advancements and treatment modalities in the world of ophthalmology.
