Khasi Students’ Union hosts inaugural university sports meet

Ri-Bhoi, March 26: Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), in collaboration with various educational institutions, orchestrated the inaugural Khasi Students’ Union University Sports Meet. This momentous gathering brought together participants from institutions such as the KSU RIST-USTM Unit, NEHU Unit, and Mahatma Gandhi University Unit.
Set against the scenic backdrop of the USTM campus, the event was expertly coordinated by the gracious hosts, the KSU RIST-USTM Unit. A diverse array of activities filled the agenda, including traditional sports and cultural showcases. Of particular note were the spirited competitions that not only celebrated athletic excellence but also honored the rich cultural heritage of the participating institutions.
Throughout the competitions, a palpable sense of camaraderie permeated the atmosphere, fostering unity and sportsmanship among the student participants. Key figures like Samla Jonny Nongrum, Sports Secretary of the NKHD Unit, played instrumental roles in ensuring the seamless execution of the event.
The presence of esteemed guests, including Samla Donald V Thabah, General Secretary of the CEC, Samla Rapborlang Nongrum, Ex-Finance Secretary of the CEC, and James H Mawphniang, General Secretary of the NKHD Unit and Legal & Affairs Secretary of the CEC, lent further significance to the occasion.
Their attendance underscored the importance of initiatives aimed at youth engagement and community development within the North Khasi Hills District Unit and the Northern Border Area.
In their addresses, these dignitaries emphasized the need to cultivate environments conducive to holistic development.
They encouraged active participation not only in academic pursuits but also in extracurricular activities, highlighting the role of such endeavors in nurturing well-rounded individuals.
