SHILLONG, March 31: The NPP on Sunday debunked observations made by its ally — UDP —that the former may have attracted the pro-Hindutva and anti-Christian tag by accepting the BJP’s support.
“Our policies and decisions are not influenced by religious affiliations, and any insinuations suggesting otherwise, as alleged by UDP, are unfounded,” said NPP working president and cabinet Minister Marcuise Marak.
Marak said as coalition partners, it’s crucial to emphasize that their party stands firm in its commitment to inclusivity and impartiality, devoid of prejudice or bias toward any religion or caste.
“We firmly believe in forming a government that serves the people, is representative of the people, and operates for the welfare of all citizens,” he said.
The NPP also questioned the four VPP MLAs on their achievements in the past one year towards the development of their respective constituencies.
NPP state working president, Pyniaid Sing Syiem said the VPP MLAs should first fulfil their responsibilities as elected leaders and not hide under the pretext that they cannot do anything since they are in the opposition.
He said that it is pointless to shout that they love their own community when in reality they have contributed nothing for the people of their constituencies who have elected them.
Syiem also stated that the VPP has been accusing the NPP-led Government as corrupt without any evidence or proof.
