SHILLONG, April 2: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Meghalaya, Dr BDR Tiwari, on Monday, convened a meeting with representatives from various political parties, Doordarshan, Akashvani Shillong, and DIPR to discuss time vouchers for broadcasting and telecasting talks on these media channels.
During the session, HoP NES, Akashvani, FA Dkhar, provided insights into technical aspects and allocation of time vouchers, emphasising adherence to guidelines. Notably, time vouchers are exclusively granted to recognised parties, both national and state-level.
FA Dkhar introduced Digital Time Vouchers, replacing Physical Time Vouchers, each allotted for 5 minutes and combinable up to 20 minutes for broadcasts. Broadcast/telecast dates are determined as per ACI rules, starting March 27, 2024, until 48 hours before the polling date, April 16, 2024.
Allocation of broadcast time is based on performance in previous elections, with distinctions made between national and state parties and regional stations.
Dr BDR Tiwari urged political parties to coordinate with AIR/DDK promptly for draw planning and time slot allocation, concluding the meeting with a note of appreciation.
