Family asked to leave village

SHILLONG: The Sordar of Lyngkhat and his associates have allegedly threatened one Nintu Kuri of Lyngkhat village in East Khasi Hills and have ordered him to leave the village within three days, while threatening him with dire consequences on non-compliance.

As per a complaint filed with the police, Kuri alleged that the Sordar of Lyngkhat and his associates had

directed him and his family members to leave the village within three days failing which they threatened to burn down their house and the shop.

When contacted, East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang informed that police have registered a case and counter complaint has also been lodged.

He also dismissed apprehensions that the incident was related to the ongoing ILP issue.
