SHILLONG SEAT

SHILLONG, April 7: The Joint Action Committee Border of Meghalaya (JACBoM) and Ka Sur u Paidbah Ka Bri Hynniewtrep (KSPBH) have invited the six candidates in fray for the Lok Sabha election from Shillong seat to attend a common platform.
The common platform will be organised at the Khasi National Dorbar Hall at 2 pm on April 13. The same will be telecast live on the Shillong Mail YouTube channel.
KSPBH chairman, Rastingwell Thabah said the theme of the common platform is “Ka Jingkyrsiew Kumno Ban Jied Nongmihkhmat” (a wakeup call on how to elect your representative).
He also informed that they have already invited all the six candidates.
“We have appealed the candidates to attend in person and not to depute anyone in their place. We want the candidates to highlight their poll-based issues and agendas to the people directly,” Thabah said.
Thabah also informed that they have also invited leaders of various pressure groups, teachers, religious forums and the Seng Khasi Kmie to attend the common platform.
JACBoM chairman Erwin K Sutnga said the common platform is vital ahead of the election in view of the prevailing political situation.
“We need an MP who will be able to highlight concerns afflicting the Khasi indigenous community. The love and concern for the Jaidbynriew (community) should not only be a mantra during the election. We need an MP who is really committed to serve the interests of the people,” he added.
