IT IS rare these days to find a person who still survives with great-great grand children like in folklores of yore. But in his pastoral visit at St. Stephen’s Parish, Sawsymper, Rev. Auggie Khrawlang Warbah came across Phronsa Wanñiang, who looks hale and hearty and has four great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Phronsa hails from Mawlynnu village of Sawsymper. Great-great granny (Mei-ieid) Phron has five children, 34 grand-children, 73 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. So, her womb has borne a total of a 116 fruits. The offspring from which came forth the great-great grandchildren are: Ailanehbon (daughter), Deborah (granddaughter), Dakerlin (great-granddaughter) and four great-great-grandchildren (as in photo, to the right of Fr. Auggie in succession). Great-great-granny is almost sure that by the time she departs from this world, her family may shoot up to 200.

Fr. Auggie prayed over the family and re-assured to them that children are one of God’s greatest blessings to the family and to human beings. He also wished that many more families will increase not only in number but also in quality of life. Mei-ieid Tymmen has increased by leaps and bounds filling almost under-heaven and over-earth (roi parum pareh shikhrum ka bneng shisnieh ka pyrthei).

     May great-great-grandmother Phron’s tribe increase!
