SHILLONG, April 24: The KSU warned the state government of a law and order problem if the police continue to arrest its members.
“…we would like to issue a very strong warning to the government that if it keeps arresting and detaining our members, we will be compelled to take action which might affect the law and order situation in the state,” KSU general secretary Donald Thabah warned.
“We understand that the government’s objective to detain our members is to deter them from going forward with their activities towards the betterment and the welfare of the Khasi community,” Thabah said.
“But our message to the government is, do what you have to do but that will not deter us from going forward with our commitment and activities for safeguarding the rights of the Khasi people,” the KSU leader said.
He further stated that the Union will hold a meeting to discuss and decide on the future course of action.
Talking about the delay in giving justice to its member, Lurshai Hynniewta, who was killed by a mob in Ichamati in 2020, Thabah said many of the accused fled and are not turning up in the court. He insisted the police find them out.
