On job to ascertain nature of object thrown at Dy CM’s residence: SP

Shillong, April 26: The police are still investigating the object which was hurled at the residence of Deputy Chief Minister, Sniawbhlalang Dhar at Nongmensong on Friday.

“We are still investigating what is the nature of the object or whether it is a petrol bomb. We will update once further details emerge on this,” East Khasi Hills SP, Rituraj Ravi told reporters.

When asked if there is any CCTV footage at the residence of the Deputy CM, Ravi said that they are working on it.

On the timing that the object was hurled, he said that they are yet to ascertain the timing since they saw the object in the morning.

“We have registered a case and I have personally visited the place of occurrence,” East Khasi Hills SP said.

Informing that the security at the residence of the Deputy CM has beefed up, Ravi also informed that the security has been beefed up on all vital locations and vulnerable areas in the city.

When asked about the attack of the convoy of the NEEPCO director at Demthring, he said that a burning rag was thrown on the vehicle.

“But there was no injury. We have also registered an FIR even in this case and we are investigating on it,” Ravi said.

Reply to query, he said that the sale of loose petrol in East Khasi Hills is prohibited since the order to impose Section 114 CrPC issued by the Deputy Commissioner is still in operation.

“However in light of these events we are taking further measures to strengthen security. We are on alert and all the investigations are being done in a thorough and professional manner. We are confident and hopeful that all the perpetrators of the crime would be brought to justice,” Ravi said.

The East Khasi Hills SP also urged all peace loving citizens of the State not to take laws into their own hands and to cooperate on the investigation which is going on and follow the rule of law.
