TURA, April 28: Another major road accident involving a dumper truck in West Garo Hills on Sunday has left a biker with severe injuries to one of his legs.
The incident took place near MBoSE at Upper Matchikolgre junction in Tura when the dumper truck (ML 08K 0925) ran over the motorist and dragged the two-wheeler all the way to Bokmagre some distance away.
The victim, who sustained severe injuries to his leg, has since been admitted at the Tura Civil Hospital.
The incident comes days just a week after a 14-year-old girl lost half of her lower limb while her companion survived with minor injuries, after a dumper truck ran over them at Ballonggre.
Immediately after the road mishap involving the scooter-borne minor girls, combined organisations from Garo Hills had called on the district administration to change the timing of entry for heavy trucks as well as certain mechanisms for its regulation to be put in place.
They had also demanded that medical expenses be borne by the authorities and a certain amount of compensation be provided to the victims and their families.
The district administration, however, is yet to act on the demand so far.
