Bongiyo Sahitya Parishad, Jail Road, will organise ‘Rabindra Jayanti’ to commemorate the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at its auditorium on May 12 at 5.30 pm. Artistes from Shillong will participate in the celebration. Earlier, the Parishad paid floral tribute to Tagore’s bust on its premises on Wednesday.

All heavy trucks plying through a weak wooden bridge located on the 87th km of Jadi village road are allowed a permissible gross weight of up to 9 metric tons to avoid the bridge collapse, the Transport department said in a notification.
