Programme
Loreto Convent, Shillong is organising a programme for the Senior Citizens under the theme, ‘We Care’ on December 3 at 9am in the School Hall.
Free Coaching
The District Administration, South West Garo Hills in collaboration with the Assam regiment, is organising a coaching programme for entry into the Army, Para Military and Police from December 2 to 16 at Degree College Premises, Ampati. The coaching is being organised under the Chief Minister’s Career Guidance Programme for the youth of the district, free of cost.
Competition
The Three-day Wood Carving and cooking competition organised by the South Garo Hills District Administration in collaboration with the Art and Culture Department was held at Baghmara Government HS School Playground on November 28.
Workshop
lA one day workshop on Chief Minister Social Assistance Scheme and other government schemes for the benefit of persons with disabilities was held on Friday at Don Bosco Youth Centre organised by the office of the commissioner for Persons with Disabilities.
lThe forests and environment department and South Asian Bamboo Federation (SABF) will conduct training cum workshop on ‘Building with bamboo’ from December 2 to 6 at Lady Hydari Park to create awareness on different uses and applications of bamboo in particular its use in construction of low cost, earth quake resistance houses furniture handicrafts.
Meeting
The district task force, West Khasi Hills held a meeting recently on Child Labour under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills whereby members discussed the various issues concerning child labour and its eradication.
Voluntary service
The World Mission Society Church of God, Shillong will be joining hands together with the farmers of the Plasha village, Ri Bhoi on December 1 in harvesting their rice fields as part of the volunteer service.
Notice
The term end examination for December 2013 of the Indira National Open University is going to commence from December 2 and will conclude on December 31. The university has established 776 examination centres including 39 overseas centres and 64 centres in jail for jail inmates. The students may download the hall tickets from the university website at www.ignou.ac.in. and appear in the examination.
Festival
The Christ International Senior Secondary School, Nongsder’s Pre Christmas celebration will be celebrated on December 14 from 10am to 7.30pm.
