SHILLONG, May 18: Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ICAR-ATARI), Umiam, successfully hosted a two-day-long Annual Review Cum Action Plan Workshop of NICRA-TDC, which concluded on Saturday. The event gathered scientists and heads of 15 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) from across Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura.
The workshop reviewed the progress of work conducted during 2023-24 and formulated action plans addressing climate change adaptation and mitigation. The event featured notable guests including Prof Panjab Singh, who emphasised resource conservation and climate-resilient technologies, and Dr AK Singh, who highlighted Integrated Farming Systems (IFS) as crucial for the Northeastern region.
Dr AK Mohanty, Director of ICAR-ATARI, stressed the importance of innovative, affordable, and acceptable climate-resilient technologies. Publications such as the NICRA Annual Report and Annual Action Plan 2023 were released during the session.
The event concluded with the recognition of Plenty Makri, VCRMC president of Village Thadnongiaw, for her significant contributions to NICRA interventions. The expert panel thoroughly reviewed the reports and plans presented by the 15 KVKs.
