Pedestrians dodge amok riders!
Life in Shillong is an exhilarating rollercoaster, where every turn is a new adventure, credit to those unpredictable roads and curves. However, amidst all the uncertainty, there is perilous menace lurking– the notorious two-wheelers of Shillong.
These daredevil riders zoom around corners with reckless abandon, showing utter disdain for traffic rules and common decency.
Pedestrians, those brave souls who dare to navigate the streets on foot, find themselves playing a dangerous game with these lawless motorcyclists. It’s like a real-life version of ‘Takeshi’s Castle’ except the stakes are higher, and the consequences are far less amusing.
It appears that these two-wheeled outlaws have declared independence from the rule of law, opting instead to follow their own whimsical code of conduct.
In a city where the traffic lights are non-existent, pedestrians are left to fend for themselves against the onslaught of rogue bikers.
It’s survival of the fittest, or in this case, survival of the quickest sprinter.
So, if you ever decide to stroll on the streets of Shillong, keep your wits about you and your running shoes handy. And remember, when it comes to two-wheelers in this city, the only rule they follow is: there are no rules.

Muddy mess! Your shoes turn orange anywhere you step on this road. Not even car or bike tyres are spared. This image is a section of the road near the MPSC building, Lachumiere. Since the rains, the newly constructed road under the Shillong Smart City Project, has been smeared in mud
agonising passers-by. (ST)
