MAWKYRWAT, May 29: South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner T. Lyngwa on Wednesday prohibited the plying of heavily loaded vehicles on the 7.80-km PMGSY road from Maheshkola to Sohmylleng under Ranikor Civil Subdivision.
The DC issued the prohibitory order after receiving a report that there had been continuous plying of heavily loaded vehicles on the Maheshkola-Sohmylleng road, leading to its deterioration.
“Further, a report has been received that the road is designed as a village road with an intended maximum axel load of 10.00 MT. However, the trucks that are plying on the road are loaded up to 25 tonnes, which is more than double the bearing capacity of the road pavement,” the DC said, informing that the prohibition comes into force with immediate effect.
