SHILLONG, May 29: The members of Meghalaya Linguistic Minority Development Forum (MLMDF), led by its president SK Choudhury, on Wednesday informed Director General of Police Idashisha Nongrang about the issues faced by the linguistic minorities, especially in East Khasi Hills.
According to a statement here, the delegation had called on the DGP at the latter’s office and submitted a letter, highlighting the pressing issues. “The DGP gave a patient hearing on the law and order problem being faced by the linguistic minorities here, especially in the East Khasi Hills district,” the statement said.
The delegation also informed the DGP about the proliferation of drugs in various parts of the state, particularly in and around Shillong.
The Forum then urged the DGP to take immediate steps to curtail the drug-related activities. “The meeting ended with cordiality and assurance from her to look into the concerns raised by the members,” the statement said.
