PDS scam: Dealer absconds

SHILLONG: A PDS dealer at Wahkhen near Pynursla, Alfred Buhphang, has gone absconding after an FIR was lodged against him for depriving six families of the village of their quota of PDS rice.
The police on Friday had gone to the village to arrest the PDS dealer; however, they found that he was not present in the village.
According to the police, the six families have been denied their quota of PDS rice since July this year.
Police informed that the matter came to light after the families sought the help of the NGOs.
Police also does not rule the involvement of the local village Dorbar in depriving the families of their PDS rice.
Earlier, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing has lodged a complaint at Pynursla Police Station that the PDS dealer has deprived six persons of Wahkhen village of their quota of PDS rice for the months of July and August.
The persons who have been deprived of their quota of PDS rice for two months were identified as Jing Khonglein, Lngaid Malngiang, Holdar Buhphang, Liam Khongjirem, Pdiang Majaw and A Trinsity Khonglein.
