SHILLONG, June 19: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has filed a petition with the Meghalaya Lokayukta concerning alleged irregularities in the aptitude test for the recruitment of peons to the Lokayukta itself. The test, held on June 15, has drawn multiple complaints from candidates.
In a petition submitted to the Secretary of the Meghalaya Lokayukta, HYC joint secretary Mandor Diengdoh Swer outlined the grievances of the applicants. The candidates reported that although the admit cards indicated an aptitude test from 2 to 3 pm, the examination actually consisted of questions on general knowledge.
Swer highlighted that this discrepancy caused significant confusion and hindered the performance of many candidates, who had prepared for an aptitude test as specified on their admit cards. He criticised the examination authorities for this lapse, which he claimed adversely affected the applicants.
Further, Swer noted that candidates were instructed to submit their question booklets along with their OMR sheets, a practice he described as unusual and raising doubts about the transparency of the recruitment process. Typically, only OMR sheets are collected, allowing candidates to retain their question booklets.
The HYC has called on the Lokayukta to address these issues to ensure transparency and justice for the candidates. Swer emphasised the need for clarity on the matter to maintain public trust in the recruitment process.
“We urge your office to kindly clarify the issues raised so that the candidates and the general public are not left in the dark. This is crucial to ensure transparency and justice for the youths who have appeared for the examination,” Swer stated.
