SHILLONG, June 19: Fraternity Art Cine Entertainment Shillong (FACES) has expressed its gratitude to Armstrong Pame, Director of Films Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and other supporters for facilitating the participation of five emerging filmmakers from Meghalaya in the 18th Mumbai International Film Festival.
The five participants — Ekratia Khongtiang, Emidao Shylla, Shawn Gabrielle Kharphuli, Sankirang L Khongwir, and Nekison Jordan Jyrwa — represented Meghalaya, marking a significant step in the growth of the state’s film industry.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, FACES also extended heartfelt thanks to Vijay Mantri, Commissioner and Secretary of the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Meghalaya, for his unwavering support. “The exposure gained at the festival has highlighted the importance of film festivals in the cinematic landscape and emphasised the need for a vibrant film culture in Meghalaya,” the statement said.
Founded in 2018, FACES aims to promote local filmmaking talent by providing platforms for exposure. The organisation has been instrumental in organizing the Kelvin Cinema Festival, with editions in 2019 and 2023. With a current membership of 23, FACES remains dedicated to fostering a thriving film community in Meghalaya.
