SHILLONG, June 22: Peeved at the delay in the declaration of results of a recruitment examination, which was conducted by the District Selection Committee in 2019, the Mawkyrwat circle of Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) and Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) on Friday organised a sit-in at the junction of the Office of the South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner.
Members of both pressure groups, carrying placards, aired frustration over the government and the District Selection Committee’s failure to declare the results even after three years since the examination was conducted.
The members were seen carrying placards and demanding the immediate declaration of the examination results.
HYC Mawkyrwat circle president, Wallambok Nongsiej, while speaking to media persons, criticised the district administration’s failure to declare the results.
He maintained that this delay has negatively impacted the unemployed educated youths in the district who had applied for various government posts with the hope of securing jobs.
Nongsiej warned that if the government continues to ignore the issue, the HYC and HITO would escalate their actions by organising an indefinite hunger strike at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Mawkyrwat.
The two groups, meanwhile, have called upon the unemployed educated youths from the district, who had repeatedly raised complaints over the pending results, to join in future protests.
