TURA, June 23: Organisations from Chokpot in South Garo Hills have opposed the recent transfer of two MCS officers from the region and have urged the government to reconsider and withdraw the transfer orders against them.
Local organisations including the GSU, FKJGP, AYWO, AHAM, CAVC, and GSMC held a meeting in this regard and termed the transfers as unjustified.
The officers who were transferred include Civil Sub-Division Officer Pittingson R Sangma and Chokpot BDO Jerichpo N. Sangma.
“Despite their brief tenure of just one month in Chokpot, these officers have demonstrated exceptional commitment and a profound sense of responsibility towards the community. Their efforts have been marked by integrity and a genuine concern for the welfare of Chokpot’s residents. However, their unexpected transfer, for reasons that remain unclear, threatens to disrupt the positive momentum they have initiated,” they stated.
“It is our firm belief that officers of such caliber and dedication should not be transferred without substantial and valid justification. Their premature reassignment not only undermines their ongoing initiatives but also deprives the Chokpot community of the competent leadership it urgently needs,” added the combined groups, with a request to the government to the government to reconsider the transfer orders.
