Council polls: UDP first list by Dec 18

SHILLONG: The UDP will release its first list of candidates for the upcoming District Council elections by December 18.

Indicating this here on Tuesday, UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh said the first list would comprise of ten names.

Stating that the party is contemplating to put candidates in all the seats in KHADC and JHADC, Lyngdoh said that UDP would contest in a few seats in GHADC too.

The party has decided to assign the District Committee to zero in on the party candidates and the committee has been directed to complete the exercise by December 31.

The exercise to select candidates has already begun, he said adding “there are several ticket aspirants who are not member of the party. They have to become primary member of the party before contesting the election on UDP ticket”.
