Kohima: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has supported the Cabinet’s decision to recommend to the Government of India an autonomous council for the four eastern districts of Nagaland.

According to a press note issued by the NPF ‘Resolution Committee’ here today, a special meeting of the NPF central leadership was convened here yesterday which resolved that in view of certain historical background and considering that the area is comparatively less developed, creating an Autonomous Council for the four districts will grant them authority to administer the area which is the best possible arrangement for their all-round development.

”While reiterating the policy of the party to stand against any force to further divide the Nagas, the central office bearers resolved that the granting of autonomy to the four districts is an upfront step in the right direction,” the sources said. (UNI)
