SHILLONG: Governor Dr. KK Paul has stressed on the need to make a pitch for establishment of Business Process Outsourcing (BPOs) in the State to ameliorate the absorption of youths within the State.
Taking a cue from the fact that hundreds of young men and women from the North East including Meghalaya are working in the BPOs of Noida and Gurgaon, the Governor, while addressing the Junior Calm Creative Arts and Literature Festival here at the State Central Library premises, said BPOs should be opened in the State since Meghalaya has ‘natural advantage’.
He even believed that a situation can be made in Meghalaya forcing BPOs to come here and open up their centres.
Asserting that ample talent is available in the field of music in Meghalaya, he said that there is a need to exploit it commercially.
“Studios can be opened where recordings can be done,” Dr. Paul said, adding that youths can also take up remixing of songs legally to earn their livelihood.
