SHILLONG, July 6: The State BJP’s consultative committee on reservation policy is collecting suggestions and inputs from the party leaders from across the state before compiling a set of suggestions to be submitted to the Expert Committee on Reservation Policy next week.
BJP spokesperson Mariahom Kharkrang said on Saturday that the process of collecting suggestions and opinions from party leaders has reached the halfway-mark.
Kharkrang said the committee’s convenor, Bernard Marak will hold a meeting next week to finalise the suggestion to be submitted to the expert committee.
Earlier, Bernard had suggested that status quo should be maintained on the reservation policy. “I personally feel it should not be touched as there is a balance between the three communities and 40 per cent reservation is necessary for the Garos,” he had said.
