Assam PCC disciplinary action committee meet held

Guwahati, July 10: The first meeting of the disciplinary action committee of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) was held at Rajiv Bhavan here on Wednesday.

The meeting, held at the initiative and presence of APCC president Bhupen Kumar Borah, was attended by the members of the newly-constituted disciplinary action committee, Assam PCC chairman Nripen Thakuria, co-chairperson Bobbeeta Sharma and member-secretary Shirazul Hussain Saikia.

In accordance with the decision taken in the meeting, an official notice was given to all party members regarding placement of complaints against anti-party activities in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections within 15 days.

“As per the direction of APCC president Bhupen Kumar Borah, it is notified that any anti-party activities done by any primary member, office-bearers of APCC/DCC/BCC/MCC, booths, including all frontal wings, cells and departments and any elected representative of Assam Congress, shall have to be brought to the notice of the disciplinary action committee within 15 days (on or before July 25, 2024), failing which no further complaint/application will be accepted or entertained,” the notice read.

So far, the Assam PCC has received 35 complaints from six districts.

“After looking into the complaints, the committee will also visit the districts and apprise APCC president Bhupen Kumar Borah and AICC general secretary in charge Assam, Jitendra Singh on the matters from ground level and after deliberation take appropriate action,” Bedabrata Bora, chairman, media department, Assam PCC, said.
