TURA, July 20: The issue of the alleged illegal appointment of teachers at the Rajabala Higher Secondary School in West Garo Hills district is turning up more questions than answers with another group who raised the issue backing out and retracting its complaint on Sunday.
Nur Islam, the president of the AMMSU, had earlier filed a complaint alleging a misleading advertisement put out for recruitment of teachers at the school on July 2. However, the same was retracted by the AMMSU leader on Sunday.
Earlier, Abdur Rup Choudhary, the president of the Anti Corruption Foundation of India (ACFI), also withdrew his own complaint on the issue, even going to the extent of terming his own allegations as false and concocted.
The withdrawal of the complaint by Choudhary at the time had raised a furore among residents, who accused him of being corrupt and demanded the dissolution of the ACFI.
The withdrawal of the complaint by Islam on Sunday came in a letter to the Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Education department where he stated, “The complaint was filed under bonafide mistaken belief and on being misguided and misled by some individuals with vested interests. Therefore, I intend to withdraw all the allegations and contentions raised in the letter dated 2/7/2024”.
Islam also claimed that the withdrawal of the complaint was not under any coercion, undue influence or threat.
Copies of the withdrawal were also forwarded to the Directorate of State Education and Literacy, Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, and the District School Education Officer, Tura, West Garo Hills.
