Taliban militants arrested in Pak’s Punjab province

Lahore: Four Pakistani Taliban terrorists were arrested on Wednesday from Punjab province with suicide jackets and hand grenades recovered from their possession.
Police and crime investigation department made the arrests as part of a joint operation launched at a village on Faisalabad-Geranwala road, some 150 kilometres from here, and arrested four members of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan.
The arrests were made on the tip off from a premier intelligence agency. Suicide jackets, hand grenades, Kalashnikovs and bullets were recovered from their possession.
They have been shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation. Meanwhile, Lahore Police yesterday launched a search operation in hotels and inns surrounding Data Darbar and took 60 suspects into custody.
“The operation is aimed at security clearance ahead of Muslim saint Ali Hajvari Data Ganj Bakhsh’s annual Urs and Chelum of Imam Hussain, grandson of Prophet Muhammad commencing from December 22,” Ahmad Adnan Sultan, a police official, said.
He said around 18 hotels and as many inns situated in his jurisdiction were checked and people staying there with suspected status had been taken into custody. (PTI)
