Retd bureaucrat, writer KK Muktan passes away at 94

SHILLONG, July 29: A retired bureaucrat and a writer, KK Muktan, father of HM Shangpliang, Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, passed away on Monday at the age of 94 after a prolonged illness. Muktan, who retired as the Director of Fisheries, leaves behind a legacy of dedication and scholarship.
Following his retirement, Muktan became a prolific writer, authoring several significant works. His notable publications include Original History and Culture of Tamang People, Comprehensive History of the Nepalese in Northeast India (volumes I, II, and III), and Indo-Nepalese Socio-Cultural Dimension.
Muktan’s funeral service will be held on July 31 at his residence, Alpine Villa, Rngi Jynriew, Nongthymmai.
