Headman election
The Dorbar Shnong Malki will hold its election for new Rangbah Shnong on August 10. Polling will take place between 9 am and 2 pm at the Malki Football Ground. All residents of the locality, above 18 years of age, are eligible to vote. The counting of votes will begin at 3 pm on the same day. The election will be held using ballot papers prepared by the election committee of the Dorbar. From 9 am to 2 pm, the locality will be temporarily closed so as to enable the residents of Malki to vote.

Handloom Day
The Directorate of Sericulture and Weaving, Department of Textiles, will organise the 10th National Handloom Day, 2024, at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong, at 12 noon on Wednesday.

Tributary prog
Rabindranath Thakur’s admirers of Shillong will pay tribute to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore at his statue in Brookside, Rilbong, at 7:30 am on Wednesday. This will be followed by a tribute programme from 3 to 5 pm to commemorate his 83rd death anniversary.
