Kohima: Continued cold wave in the high altitude areas of Nagaland for past two weeks, for which people of the areas are reeling under severe cold.
According to official reports, severe cold wave sweeping the upper reaches areas of Nagaland, including Kohima, where Mercury has come down below 1.5 Degree Celsius for the lowest temperature, disturbing the people to continue their normal life.
The Mount Saramati, at an altitude of 3840.00 meters, the highest peak of Nagaland and located near Tuensang town, up to the Kiphire district, still wearing the ice cap for moiré that one month and the highest altitude town Pfutsero town under Phek district, at an altitude of 2133 meters is under severe cold.
The second highest peak Mount Japfu (3,015 meters) under Kohima district, also wearing the snow cap for about a month and the Kohima town (1,444.12 meter) is reeling under severe cold, where mercury came down to 1.5oC to show the lowest temperature, while the highest temperature is shown around 10oC and the people of Kohima town on Thursday able to see the sunshine after a week-long cloudy sky.
