NONGPOH, Aug 20: In a ceremony marked by gratitude, the Presbyterian Church of Nongjri on Tuesday unveiled a memorial stone at the Nongjri Presbyterian Secondary School to honour (L) Welin Roy Jyrwa and Dr. Friday Lyngdoh. These individuals were celebrated for their generous donation of land, which made the establishment of the school possible.
The event, held on the school premises, saw the participation of key dignitaries, including Dr DD Lapang, advisor to the state government, who unveiled the memorial stone. He was joined by Mawhati MLA and chairman of the school’s managing committee, Charles Marngar, along with school authorities, teachers, students, and family members of the honourees.
In their addresses, both Dr Lapang and Marngar expressed profound appreciation to the families of Welin Roy Jyrwa and Dr Friday Lyngdoh. They acknowledged that the donation of land has been instrumental in the development of the school, which continues to play a vital role in educating the youth of the region.
Looking ahead, the leaders also shared their vision for the school’s future, expressing hopes to upgrade the institution from a secondary to a higher secondary level and to introduce an English-medium section. They committed to collaborating with the Nongjri Presbyterian Church, school authorities, and local leaders to achieve these educational goals for the community.
