Muzaffarnagar: Around 55 people were still evading arrest who were involved in the Muzaffarnagar riots of September last due to which charge sheets are not filed in some cases, even after completion of the probe, police on Monday said.
Nearly 250 people have been arrested so far out of the total 300 in connection with the riots at Muzaffarnagar and neighbouring areas.
Senior Superintendent of Police(SSP) H N Singh said here on Monday that the Special Investigation Team (SIT), set up by Uttar Pradesh government, had asked local police to arrest over 300 accused in different riot cases, out of which 245 have been arrested.
