Skill training on floral design and makeup in WJH

SHILLONG, Sep 1: A five-day skill upgrade training programme focusing on ‘Floral Design & Bouquet Making’ and ‘Makeup & Hair Styling, was organised by the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Community College for Skill Development (DDUCCSD), a constituent of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU). The event, held from August 26 to 30, took place at the college premises in Wahiajer, Jowai, West Jaintia Hills.
The programme attracted 100 participants from the local community, aiming to enhance the vocational skills of rural youth. The participants, eager to improve their abilities for sustainable livelihood opportunities, actively engaged in the hands-on sessions.
NEHU Vice Chancellor, Prof PS Shukla, praised the initiative, highlighting the university’s dedication to uplifting the skill set of rural youth. He commended the programme’s success and committed to furthering such essential skill development efforts to help individuals secure better employment prospects.
“The skills imparted through this programme are crucial not only for personal growth but also for the economic empowerment of the community. NEHU remains dedicated to supporting and expanding these initiatives to ensure that the youth of our region can thrive in today’s competitive job market,” stated Prof Shukla.
