Condolence
The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat has expressed its grief on the demise of former MLA, D. Plaslanding Iangjuh, and extended its condolences to the bereaved family. In a statement, the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat also recalled the tenure and contributions of the former MLA. “He was a seasoned political leader with knowledge and experience. He will be remembered for his active service to the people and his contributions in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly with his lively and humorous speeches. He left an indelible mark in the offices that he holds,” the statement said. It may be mentioned that the former MLA breathed his last on Friday.

Competitions
As part of pre-Teej festival, the Hamro Swabhimaan Trust Shillong on Saturday organised inter-school competitions at Ex-servicemen Office, Jhalupara. According to a statement here, the competitions were attended by students from seven Shillong-based schools, viz. Mawprem Modern Higher Secondary School, Nepali Kanya Pathshala Secondary School, Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School, Little Angel Secondary School, Cantonment School, Gorkha Higher Secondary School and Arya Vidhalaya Secondary School. Gorkha Durga Mandir Office-bearers
The Shillong Socio-Cultural Assamese Students’ Association on Sunday formed a new executive body for 2024-25 during its annual general meeting here. The office-bearers of the new executive body include Kaushik Das as president, Sushanta Sarmah Bordoloi and Meghali Mishra as vice presidents, Parthib Neogi as general secretary, Kritika Bharali and Sarmishtha Kattyan as assistant general secretaries, among others.

Felicitation
Indrajit Arora, a student of Shillong Jail Road Boys’ Higher Secondary School, was recently felicitated by Prashanta R Das, an alumnus of 1978 batch of the school, for scoring the highest marks in the school. According to a statement here, Arora was felicitated with a memento and a cheque of Rs 10,000 by Das, who had paid visit to the school along his wife and two of his classmates, in memory of his father (L) Priti Kumar Das. During his visit, Das also contributed some money for the replacement of old school furniture.
