Agartala: Hot situation becomes volatile after issuing job letter for 4606 under graduate teachers in Tripura, as deprived aspirants burnt down and ransacked the party offices of ruling CPI-M and attacked the leaders.
According to report, as many as 23 party offices of CPI-M either set on fire or ransacked by the angry job seekers and several leaders of the party were assaulted alleging nepotism and corruption in providing job.
The situation went out of control in Sonamura sub-division where Chief Minister Manik Sarkar got elected, Sabroom sub-division where Industries minister Jitendra Choudhury got elected and Khowai where Agriculture minister Aghore Debbarma was elected.
A job aspiring lady identified as Sabitri Sarkar had physically assaulted party local committee member Manindra Debnath with her shoes in broad daylight yesterday in Fatikroy of North Tripura.
The victim alleged that she had been sacrificed land for construction of Degree College in the area and the party leaders including local MLA and education minister Tapan Chakraborty himself assured her to provide job as under graduate teacher.
“The selected the son of a village panchayat chief, wife of doctor, son of established businessman and daughter of a leading CPI-M entrepreneur who all are belonging to the party and the most propagating criteria of needy and meritorious have been deprived from the job,” Mrs Sarkar alleged before the media.
Allegedly, the CPI-M leaders and cadres have been distributed the job offers to their close relatives and family members to grab the last chance of getting government job with simple Madhyamik pass.
Last week in a special cabinet Left front government in Tripura had decided to appoint 4,606 Under Graduate Teachers (UGT) for about 4000 primary schools of the state after 16 years without Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) and basic educational training like BEd or other professional course and less qualified candidates.
According to Right to Education (RTE) Act, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has set higher secondary with 50 percent marks as minimum qualification for UGT however, the central government allowed appointment with TET.
But the state government has decided to appoint UGT as per the existing norms with Madhyamik passed candidates arguing that the process of recruitment of UGT had began in 2002 when RTE was not in existence.
Meanwhile, about 500 unemployed basic training holders in education have gheraoed School education director P K Chakraborty demanding job and threatened to go for self immolation if all the trained aperients do not provide with job as UGT.
Finally, police and sub-divisional administration made intervention in the situation and rescued him with an assurance that the department would sit with them on January 6 next to look into their demands. (UNI)
