Shillong, Sep 11: Inter-Office Futsal Tournament advanced to its second day of action on Wednesday, with eight teams battling for a spot in the quarterfinals. The matches continued to deliver high energy and competitive play, echoing the excitement of the opening day.
In the first match, Assembly FC managed to hold off a strong comeback from MBDA, securing a 4-2 victory with Robert Nongrum scoring twice. MIMHANS made a significant impression with a dominant 6-2 win over CNRD Sohïong, thanks to hat-tricks from Brandon Dkhar and Sukjingmut Dhar.
The tournament also featured its first penalty shootout, where Water Resources emerged victorious with a 3-2 win over HQ Defenders after a 2-2 draw in regular time. The highlight of the day came from Fivestar Shylla of the Meghalaya Secretariat Home Guards, who dazzled the crowd by netting eight goals in a single game, leading his team to a 10-2 rout of KHADC.
With the quarterfinal line-up now set, the upcoming matches promise to be thrilling. ITI Shillong will face the strong AG Meghalaya Futsal Team, while PHE will go up against MeECL.
MIMHANS will battle Assembly FC, and Water Resources will take on the Home Guards. The quarterfinals will be held on Thursday at Langkyrding, starting from 12 noon.
As the Inter-Office Futsal Tournament heads into the quarterfinals, the competition has reached a fever pitch with standout performances and nail-biting finishes setting the stage for more electrifying matches.
