‘Delimitation against voice of people’

NONGSTOIN: 30 villages under 3 Polling stations of 32-Nongstoin Assembly Constituency have decided to boycott the KHADC election, 2014.

In a joint meeting of Sordar Shnongs and Secretaries of 10 Polling Stations of 32- Nongstoin AC namely- Marngor, Langlew, Laitkseh, Mawkaton, Mynni Mawbri, Khyllem Tiehsaw, Shohphria, Mawlangkhar, Umsaw and Mawkynbat unanimously decided to boycott the KHADC election.

This decision arises from their demand to remain with Nongstoin in the upcoming KHADC election.

They have decided that they would remain with Nongstoin during the KHADC election just like during the Assembly Elections and refused their movement to the new ADC constituencies.

After delimitation comes into play, out of these 10 Polling Stations, some of them would join Rambrai- Jyrngam and some would be attached to Pariong.

The joint meeting also dispatched a letter to the Governor, CM, Chief Secy, Minister of Dist Council Affairs, President of the MPCC and the Chairman of the Delimitation Committee. In the letter, they said that the Governor did not respect the voice of the people.

It also accused the Government of only looking into the benefits of the MDCs and not the people. The letter also claimed that most of the people did not receive any schemes from their MDCs.

The letter threatened that if the delimitation came to play, 30 villages falling under the 10 Polling Stations would boycott the KHADC polls.

The letter also threatened to file a case against the Government if their demands were not met with.
