Nine parishes converge for annual meet

SHILLONG, Oct 14: The Synjuk Ki Seng Rangbah Catholic, Zone II, which comprises nine parishes, held its annual meet at Pynthorumkhrah Parish on Saturday and Sunday. This organisation represents Catholic men within the Catholic Archdiocese of Shillong.
The nine participating parishes include Pynthorumkhrah, Mawpat, Mawpdang, Nongmynsong, Umpling, Nongrah, Madanrting, Laitumkhrah, and Nongthymmai.
The meet began on October 12 with a flag hoisting ceremony led by Fr. Richard M Majaw, the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Shillong, in the presence of Fr. Lawrence Nongkseh, Parish Priest of Pynthorumkhrah, Fr. Pascal Lyngdoh, the Spiritual Director of the Zone, and Fr. Gerald Khongjee, the resource person. The event was also attended by executive members of the central body, office-bearers of Zone II, and representatives from the nine parishes, along with many members of the organisation.
Most Rev. Victor Lyngdoh, the Archbishop of Shillong Archdiocese, was the main celebrant of the Holy Mass on Sunday. In his sermon, he emphasised the importance of prayer and highlighted the role of men in the Church and society, stressing the values of wisdom, worship, and work.
The event also featured talks on various topics, the release of the Khasi Catechism books authored by Fr. Barnes Mawrie SDB, as well as musical performances and skits.
The annual meet concluded with the lowering of the flag by Fr. Ruben Lyngdoh and the announcement that next year’s meet will take place at Mawpat Parish.
