Itanagar: The Nyishi student bodies have expressed strong resentment over the illegal eviction drive carried out by Assam government officials in Tarasso circle under Papum Pare district of Aruanchal Pradesh recently.
The members of All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) and All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) led by ANSU general secretary Arjun Panye and ANYA president Bamang Taji respectively had visited affected areas on Friday last.
‘ The people of Tarasso are really fed up with repeated encroachment of their land and illegal eviction carried out by Assam officials inside the Arunachal territory. Henceforth, we will monitor the situation and if Assam continues to harass innocent Arunachalees, we will take action accordingly,’ stated Arjun Panye here on Monday.
He further said, ‘ People of Arunachal living in boundary areas whether it is in Papum Pare, Longding, West Siang, East Siang districts or any other place has never encroached inside Assam territory. Our people respect status quo declared by Supreme Court of India and are peacefully living. However Assam never reciprocates our gesture and continues to harass Arunachalee citizens.’
Bamang Taji stated that ANSU and ANYA will stand together to protect Tarasso area from further encroachment.
He also added that repeated encroachment inside Arunachal territory will not be tolerated anymore and it will have severe repercussion. (UNI)
