KHADC to follow up on pending bills for Guv’s assent

SHILLONG, Oct 24: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Thursday stated that its Executive Committee will continue to follow up with Governor CH Vijayashankar and the District Council Affairs (DCA) department regarding the pending bills.
“We are hopeful that these pending bills will also receive the Governor’s assent,” KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pyniaid Sing Syiem told reporters.
Meanwhile, the KHADC expressed its appreciation to the Governor for granting assent to six of the seven bills recently submitted by the Council. “We are elated to receive the Governor’s approval on these important bills,” Syiem said.
The six bills that received the Governor’s assent are: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Administration of Elaka) (Amendment) Bill, 2023; The Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Nomination and Election of the Lyngdoh, Myntri, Lyngdoh Raid and Sordar Shnong and Administration of Sohiong Lyngdohship) Bill, 2023; The Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Regulation and Administration of Land) (Amendment) Bill, 2023; The United Khasi-Jaintia Hills District Fishery (Amendment) Bill, 2023; The Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Khasi Social Custom of Lineage) (Amendment) Bill, 2023; and The Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Trading by Non-Tribals) (Amendment) Rules, 2023.
